Bio

My interest in fitness began over 40 years ago when I began working at a local gym as aerobics instructor/juice bar manager. (Arnold Schwarzenegger was the guest at the gym's grand opening! I beat him in 3 rounds of billiards:) Being in the gym setting inspired me to complete college with a degree in Food and Nutrition/Minor Athletic Training. There was no such thing as a Personal Trainer then so I worked as a Registered Dietitian selling nutritional and tube feeding supplements to Long Term Care facilities.

I longed to be in a healthier area of nutrition and fitness, so was certified as a Personal Trainer over 25 years ago. I have acquired certifications such as Functional Aging Specialist, Crossfit Coach, Kettlebell trainer, Senior Fitness Specialist, and Rock Steady Boxing Coach.

I was widowed when my kids were quite young and fitness became not just an outlet but a lifeline through grief. Working out preserves physical power and strength which helps prevent sarcopenia as we age but gives such a huge boost to brain health and well-being as well. I hope my story inspires others to move more! My fitness pursuits have included Cross Fit, marathon running, triathlons, strength training and functional bodybuilding. I believe that movement is a privilege. Our bodies require it - and crave it!
